Dear All,

Request: There are still a few missing items that belong to our cubs from the Region Camp in the holidays.

Please if anyone has a Kathmandu Rain jacket from the camp, can you email me and let me know, it is an expensive jacket and is very much missed by the cub.

Below is some more information for this coming term.

1. Change on the program
Sunday, Nov. 15th is the Swimming badgework afternoon.
(not Sat. 14 as on the program – sorry my mistake)

Swimming badgework is important and all cubs are requested to be present.
Leaders are required to have a record of the swimming ability for cubs.
Cost: to be advised.

2. Optional only Nov. 21st is Dist. Swimming Carnival, Galston Aquatic Centre, details
coming soon.

3. Combined Outing Sunday, 29th Nov. (Normanhurst and Meadow Bank pack)
This outing goes towards the Buddy badge – which is a very interesting hat pin.
Keep the day available for the cubs.

4. Visit to Aust. National Jambooree, 9th Jan.
All adults, cubs , family, friends going to the Jambooree are required to fill out an A1 form. It is very important to do so or you will not be allowed to attend.

Please find attached the copy of the current A1 form that needs to be filled out soon.

Cost of transport as given by Region is $35.00 per head, this is too expensive and hence Normanhurst pack is trying to organise their own transport with the help of parents.
I will inform you of the new cost soon.
For those wanting the souvenir bag and gifts $20.00 per cub must be paid by cheque to Normanhurst Scout group by 9th Nov.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

cheers

Dear All

Hope all the cubs are having a good holiday. The Region Camp was enjoyable except for the weather. All the cubs were so well behaved, they did as they were told and participated willingly in all the activities.  We are so very proud of them.

Please note – Cubs go back on Mon. 26th October, there is no cubs on coming monday.

During the month of November each year all sections of Scouting can earn the “Out and About” Activity badge by going out into the community on service work or activity in their uniforms .  We have put down a few activities on our program in November which will qualify all our cubs to be able to earn that badge.

Please find attached the new program for Term 4.

We have a lot of lost property left behind from the Region camp which we will there on the first night back. If your cub has brought home anything that does not belong to him/her, Please can i request you to send it with your cub on monday, 26th to the hall.

If you still havenot emailed me about the Future Scout day please remember to do so by the end of this week. It is wonderful opportunity for Cubs to see Scouting in Action at the National Jambooree.

cheers

Attaching the details once again below for the Future Scout Day.

Future Scout Day

Ever wondered what being a Scout was all about? Well here’s your chance! Become a Scout for a day on Saturday 9 January 2010 at the AJ2010 Future Scout Day. Future Scout Day is an opportunity for Cub Scouts to get a small taste of what an Australian Jamboree is all about. The day will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Saturday 9 January 2010 is also Market Day. Market Day is a break from the normal activities that Scouts get to participate in. Instead the Scout Troops put on their thinking hats and come up with weird and wonderful things to sell to other Troops in exchange for Jambore Dollars.

Since all the Scouts will be having fun participating in Market Day the On Site Activities will be open to Future Scouts only. This gives Future Scouts a chance to have a go on all the great AJ2010 activities with out having to compete with Scouts for a go.

Attending on Future Scout Day

Online registration is a must so we know how many people to expect on the day and how many great Future Scout Day Awards to order. Registering by the closing date will also assist us in giving all Future Scouts a smooth entry into the site without standing in long boring queues for hours on end.

Please note that if you haven’t registered you will not be allowed in the AJ2010 site.

Transport to the Jamboree site will be by coach as there is minimal parking and you could be in for a long walk. These coaches and pick up points will be organised by your Regional Commissioner Cub Scouts, who will pass on details via Seeonees (Cub Scout Leader meetings).

Registration and collection point of Future Scout Day Awards will be NSW Contingent Headquarters. The future Scout Day Awards will be presented to Future Scouts who complete the allocated tasks set down in the Future Scout Day Book issued at registration.

How to apply

Registration details and Scout Group application forms for Future Scout Day & Visitors Day will be available very soon so check back here regularly.

Cost The cost of the day is $20.00, which includes:

Entry ,
All activities ,
Souvenirs of the day ,
The Future Scout Day Award
If you don’t want the souvenirs or Future Scout Day Award the cost will be $7.50. Transport will be additional and this will be paid to your Region Commissioner – Cub Scouts when you book your seats.

What you need to bring

Future Scouts and their leaders will need to wear full uniform to and from the event and bring:

A change of old clothes
Swimmers, rash vest, 2 towels, hat, sunscreen and insect repellent
A Picnic lunch from home would be a great idea so you can eat back at your Troops Jamboree site.
Lunchtime will give our Future Scouts the opportunity to hear about all that has happened & how much fun the Scouts & leaders are having.
